The shantaram forum is due for a major update in the comming months. My thinking at the moment is that I will probably introduce these changes a few at a time, rather than try to complete everything in one go, without updating the site for months on end, and ultimately changing everything overnight. This way my valued visitors can see the site progress and get used to new additions and the new look. You might have noticed a few graphical changes today, this is really just to bring the live site somewhere closer to how the major re-vamp will look.

As I've mentioned in the Forum, there are a few page updates to come also, actually if all goes well a whole lot of new content will appear here hopefully expanding the usefulness of the site. So keep coming back for updates. The Shantaram Characters page is coming along smoothly, and I also plan to write other new pages, but i'm keeping them a secret for now ;)

All the very best, Andy

The connection problems have now been resolved. Again please accept my apologies for the absence of the forum. I have not heard any details as yet as to why the problem occured, but I will contact the host and make enquiries. Hopefully, we can put some kind of backup in place. I will keep you up to date on any developments. Many thanks. Andy.

Connection problems to the forum

Dear Friends, my website host has notified me that we are experiencing problems with the forum database. They hope to have the situation resolved very shortly. My apologies for this bump in the road, hopefully we will be up and running again very soon. I will keep you posted regarding the situation. Kind regards, Andy.

This news update is a focus on the development of our community forum. I've added two new catagories, one for disscussion on the Philosophy in Shantaram, and another general board for Literature and film. I thought since many people enjoy both books and movies, then it would be a great place to have off-topic dissussions where members could chat. Of course there's nothing to stop you staying on-topic, and talking about something Shantaram related. The Philosophy board also has the same duplicate function, to talk about the philosophy present in Shantaram and on Greg's site, and any disscussions unrelated to Shantaram also.

Lastly, I must apologise to those members hoping to see the forum more closly integrated with the site, however it looks like it will take me a little longer to get my head around the forum-software and how to edit the pages. Still, it's on the to-do list.

pp. My apologies also have to go to those users viewing the site with Internet Explorer V6. I am aware of some of the problems these users are experiencing, and hope to find the time to rectify this very soon. Of course I would also suggest you upgrade to the latest, more secure version 7. I personally use Opera web browser for viewing webpages.

The Shantaram Forum will soon be migrating to its own domain. You guessed it, www.shantaram-forum.com. Along with this migration will also come some major changes to the design of the main site. After consulting with fellow web designers on good use of colour etc, I decided it was time I sorted that out. No definite time scale is set on this as yet; I'm working hard on getting things right so when the new site goes live there will be fewer things to change on a site-wide basis. A few bugs in Internet explorer are driving me up the proverbial wall currently, but that's what you can expect. Lastly, sorry to all of you who have come to this website and seen it looking like it needs a decent re-working. That's the product of trying to change things on the hoof, hence my decision to work behind the scenes until it is ready. The bugs will have to stay for present.

Oh and I nearly forgot, after this impending change, the next project is to properly integrate the forum section so that it blends well with the overall site.

Shantaram Quotes:

"I tried to fix my eyes on the clear and perfect stars of that fated night's black heaven, but again and again my concentration lapsed, and I found myself staring at the dark edge of the plateau. And I knew, in the way we know without a word that love is lost, or in the sudden, sure way we know that a friend is flase..."

"If you stare into its cold dead eye, the camera always mocks you with the truth...It was impossible to tell from that photo how much those men had loved to laugh, and how readily they'd smiled...only my own eyes stared back at me as I held the picture in my bandaged hands, and remembered the names of the men leaning together in the ragged lines."
