Shantaram

Escaping from a maximum security prison in Australia, Lin begins a journey that leads him to Mumbai. As he sets down on Indian soil he begins a leg of his outlaw life in a city that captivates him immediately, and holds him hostage to a fate he struggles to understand. Starting out an anonymous new life, walking among ordinary citizens and underworld criminals alike, Lin’s fate takes him through the rich kaleidoscope of life in Mumbai. What unfolds in Shantaram is the story of a man’s redemption, found in the most unlikely of place, and one he never imagined, upon a riverbank in a rural Indian village.

Shantaram is about a journey, a place, and people. It’s an awe-inspiring book, and if you haven’t read Shantaram yet then you are about to have one great read. If you want to know a little more about it’s author, you can find interviews with Gregory David Roberts by visiting the dedicated page.

Shantaram Quotes:

"..and sometimes my friend, the love that I have, and can't give to you, crushes the breath from my chest. Sometimes, even now, my heart is drowing in a sorrow that has no stars without you, and no laughter, and no sleep."
